Geology
An introduction

Shropshire is lucky to have some of the most varied geology in the whole of Britain, and here in Ludlow the geology collections held at the Museum Resource Centre encompass a wide range of material from the Shropshire area and material collected by people with links to the County.

Palaeozoic fossils from South Shropshire and the Welsh Borders make up the bulk of the collection but there are also representative specimens from further a field as well as minerals and Shropshire rocks.

Geological strata
Important parts of the collection include early fossil fish, cephalopods and the Shropshire Mammoths.
