Education
An introduction

Children learn best through direct contact with real objects and specimens. Special educational sessions will be offered to schools that follow National Curriculum guidelines and allow maximum access to the County Museum's superb collections.

Children using our collections
Children can handle and explore the ‘real thing’ under the guidance of our experienced museum educators. The centre is fully equipped with microscopes and all the specialist equipment needed to undertake serious research.

We can often accommodate small groups of students who are undertaking specific study into costume, textiles, natural history or geology. Please contact us to discuss your ideas and needs.

There are opportunities for adult learners too including taster sessions in a wealth of subjects supported by the collections, day schools, workshops and short courses.
