Action: St Oswald and Ruyton-XI-Towns

Action: St Oswald and Ruyton-XI-Towns is a pilot series of meetings held four times a year that gives people in the area a chance to meet with local councillors, get involved in decisions affecting their community and help decide how the committee spends its budget.

Action: St Oswald and Ruyton-XI-Towns covers Kinnerley, Knockin, Llanyblodwel, Llanymynech and Pant, Melverley, Oswestry Rural, Ruyton-XI-Towns, West Felton and the Maeserfield ward of Oswestry Town Council.

Action: St Oswald and Ruyton-XI-Towns is one of five local joint committee pilots that have been meeting in Shropshire for the past year.

Last meeting - 25 June at Rhydycroesau Village Hall

Successful bids for funding from the older people’s opportunities fund were announced when the Action: St Oswald and Ruyton-XI-Towns local joint committee met on Wednesday 25 June at Rhydycroesau village hall.

Altogether some 13 bids were successful providing £15,877.31 funding for older peoples groups in the area. Details of the applications can be seen by following the link attached to this page.

The meeting, for the first time, was successfully combined with the Oswestry South PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting. There was also an opportunity for those in attendance to put forward ideas for discussion at future meetings and how the committee should spend its budget.

The meeting also agreed to establish a £30,000 Community Fund for the area. This is a general purpose fund that any groups in the area can apply to for grants of up to £2,000. The Committee will consider applications at each of the remaining three meetings this year. Applications to be considered at the next Local Joint Committee meeting in October need to be received by 22 August 2008.
