Do you live in the Ludlow area? This is your chance to get involved in decisions affecting your community

'Action: Ludlow and Ludlow rural' is a pilot series of meetings held four times a year that gives people in the Ludlow area a chance to meet with local councillors, get involved in decisions affecting their community and help decide how the committee spends its budget.

Peter Corston, Shropshire County Councillor for Ludlow, said: “The Action: Ludlow and Ludlow Rural meetings are giving local people a real chance to say how they think services and facilities in the area could be improved. As Chair of the meeting, I am very pleased with the progress made in a very short time, and feel that the parishes now feel very much part of that progress.”

Action: Ludlow and Ludlow Rural is one of eleven local joint committees that are now meeting regularly across Shropshire.

It was agreed to approve funding of £5,000 towards Ludlow Town Football Club artificial grass pitch for community use.

It was also agreed not to approve funding towards South Shropshire Furniture Scheme's employment of an advice worker, but to advise the Scheme that they would consider supporting an alternative proposal that did not involve direct staffing costs.

A budget paper setting out the process for applying for funding in 08-09 can be found on this page. The deadline for receipt of applications is 29 August, for them to be considered at the next meeting on Thursday 25 September.

Applicants should note the committee decision not to fund staffing costs; they have experienced a clear preference for funding equipment, premises etc. Applications for events and activities will be considered but should not relate wholly to staff costs.
