Do you live in Wem or the surrounding area? This is your chance to get involved in decisions affecting your community.

'Action: Wem and Wem Rural' is a pilot series of meetings held four times a year that gives people in the area a chance to meet with local councillors, get involved in decisions affecting their community and help decide how the committee spends its budget.

It covers the following villages and parishes: Wem; Whixall; Wem Rural; Loppington; Myddle and Broughton; Clive; Grinshill; Hadnall.

The committee has a budget of £40,000 that can be spent on local issues.

Action: Wem and Wem Rural met for the first time on 22 May 2008.It is one of eleven local joint committees that are now meeting regularly across Shropshire.

Chris Mellings, Shropshire County Councillor for Wem, said: “This new series of meetings will give people living in the Wem area a real chance to improve the local area. It will help to ensure that important decisions about the area are made at a local level, and that local people have a real opportunity to influence these decisions. We hope that local people will come along and get involved.”
