Our specialist curatorial staff offer a free identification and recording service. Objects and specimens can be left at our museums where we will do our best to tell you what it is and how old it is. This usually takes around 4 to 8 weeks, however can take longer in the case of archaeological finds.

Recording Objects and Specimens
We would be grateful if you could provide us with as much information as possible about your object or specimen. It might be an important find. Recording information such as where it was found or who it once belonged to will help us identify it correctly, record it accurately and add to our understanding of Shropshire's past.

Certificates of Authenticity and Valuations
It should be noted that the County Museum Service cannot issue certificates of authenticity or give valuations. This should be done through an auction house or specialist dealer.
