Adult courses programme for 2010
Building on the popularity of our Traditional Adult Skills Workshops, which have been on offer throughout 2009, Shropshire Council’s Acton Scott Historic Working Farm has prepared a new programme of courses which will run throughout 2010.
The courses feature a wide range of traditional building skills, rural crafts, animal husbandry and cottage life - giving participants the chance to have a go at everything from butter making and hedge-laying, through to preparing rabbit for the table and spending a day in the life of a Victorian farmer's wife.
All the tutors employed to run the courses are experts in their field, some earning their living through the everyday practice of their craft, while others are resident interpreters and demonstrators on the farm.
For the last 30 years, skilled craftsmen and women have demonstrated traditional domestic activities, rural crafts and working trades to visitors. Our aim is now not just to demonstrate these skills but to pass them on, through a programme of workshops and short courses.
