Traditional rural craft and trade courses at Acton Scott

Rural craft and trade courses at Acton Scott Working Farm

Adult courses programme for 2012

Building on the popularity of our Traditional Adult Skills Workshops, Shropshire Council’s Acton Scott Historic Working Farm has prepared a new programme of courses which will run throughout 2012.

The courses feature a wide range of traditional building skills, rural crafts, animal husbandry and cottage life - giving participants the chance to have a go at everything from blacksmithing and hedge-laying, through to smallholding skills and spending a day in the life of a Victorian farmer's wife.

All the tutors employed to run the courses are experts in their field, some earning their living through the everyday practice of their craft, while others are resident interpreters and demonstrators on the farm.

For the last 30 years, skilled craftsmen and women have demonstrated traditional domestic activities, rural crafts and working trades to visitors. Our aim is now not just to demonstrate these skills but to pass them on, through a programme of workshops and short courses.

To view the full programme of courses for 2012 please see the attachment on this page.

If you would like to book or to find out more about a particular course please telephone 01694 781307 or email: acton.scott.museum@shropshire.gov.uk. Bookings may be made by printing the booking form in the attachments section and sending, together with a cheque, to the address given. Alternatively, you may phone the above number to pay via debit/credit card, and your booking will be processed immediately.
