The Shropshire Music Service offers:
- an experienced team of professional music educators;
- instrumental lessons on a wide range of musical instruments;
- bands and orchestras for beginners, intermediate and advanced players;
- concerts - regular opportunities for you to see and hear your child perform;
- reduced price lessons for some families;
- advice on instrumental hire and hire purchase;
- an annual report for all students with an additional report after the first term of tuition;
- termly invoices;
- instrumental lessons.
The team of high quality talented music teachers work with many thousands of young musicians each week on a wide range of orchestral, band and 'pop' instruments and a wide range of music curriculum lessons, workshops, festivals and other activities during the year.
In primary schools from September 2008 lessons may be commissioned by the school and information about the availability of instrumental lessons will come from your school.
In secondary schools from September 2008 lessons may be commissioned by schools who will make their own charging arrangements or where this is not the case, parents will contract directly with the music service.
Where lessons are offered directly to parents, there will usually be 32 lessons spread unequally over the three school terms usually on the school premises. Some teaching may take place at area music centres.
