Shropshire Council has introduced a new permit system. It is hoped this system will provide a consistent approach to issuing permits across the county, allowing ease of tracking, replacement, cancellation and refund. Parking Civil Enforcement Officers will be able to instantly check on the validity of a permit by using the unique serial number printed on it.
Residential parking schemes operate in certain streets across Shropshire.
They control indiscriminate parking on residential streets and retain access for the emergency services.
These schemes mean that residents are exempt from certain waiting restrictions on their street while having a permit on display.
The links on this page will direct you to your street if covered by a scheme and will detail further information on how to apply for your permit.
What if I don't live in a residents parking area? What are the options?
There are public parking permits available on certain car parks. Permits can be purchased for different periods of time. Please click the car park permit link on this page for more information.
How does being a Blue Badge holder affect me?
The concessions afforded by the Blue Badge means that holders are not required to display a residents permit. Waiting time is unlimited as long as the Blue Badge is displayed in the vehicle. However, Blue Badge holders must comply by paying for their parking when using car parks where the concession does not apply - this information will be on the signs next to the pay machines in each car park.
Replacement permits
You may find that you need to request a replacement permit, if one is lost or the details change, for example if you change your vehicle. There will be an administration charge of £5 and you may apply using the same application methods. See the link to your scheme for information. You will need to surrender your old permit when applying for a new one.
Refunds
If you move out of the area you may be entitled to a refund on your permit. Refunds will be made on whole months remaining on the life of the permit. Send the permit together with confirmation of the name and forwarding address to where we should send the refund, to Shropshire Parking Service at the address on this page. If you prefer, you may hand in your permit at your local customer service headquarters office who will send it on to the Parking team. To find out where your headquarters office is, please check on the link for your town.
