Developer Contributions

The Developer Contributions Supplementary Planning Document was formally adopted by Shropshire Council on 13 July 2011.

The SPD is part of the Council’s commitment to ensuring infrastructure is delivered alongside new development. It provides additional policy detail to supplement the Shropshire Core Strategy and is important in ensuring that the appropriate mechanisms are in place for development to make contributions to local infrastructure.

The Developer Contributions SPD, along with the Statement of Consultation, and Adoption Statement are available to view at the bottom of this page.

Hard copies of the SPD, the Consultation Statement and the Adoption Statement can also be viewed at Shropshire Council’s Area Headquarters within normal office hours:

  • Bridgnorth: Westgate, Bridgnorth WV16 5AA
  • Ludlow: Stone House, Corve Street, Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 1DG
  • Oswestry: Castle View, Oswestry, Shropshire SY11 1JR

They're also available to view at all Libraries and Customer Service Points in Shropshire within normal opening hours.

Shropshire Place Plans

The Developer Contributions SPD highlights the importance of the Shropshire Place Plans in detailing the infrastructure requirements and investment priorities for each locality in Shropshire. The Place Plans provide a framework for coordinating actions and resources between service delivery bodies and provide a basis for developer contributions.

Further information on the Shropshire Place Plans and an up to date copy of each Plan is available via the appropriate link at the bottom of this page.

Code of Practice

Each Place Plan will be reviewed and updated annually, following consultation with each town and parish council and Shropshire’s strategic infrastructure providers. This annual review ensures that changing needs and priorities are continually reflected within the Place Plans.

The process and timescale for this annual review is set out in the Code of Practice, which is available in two parts at the bottom of this page.
