What does a Waste Local Plan do?
A Waste Local Plan sets out policies against which planning applications for waste management development are measured. It also identifies sites that are suitable 'in principle' for a waste management use.
The plan gives a clear picture to the waste management industry and the public about the location and nature of future waste development in Shropshire.
What is a Minerals Local Plan?
In a similar way to the Waste Local Plan, the Minerals Local Plan sets out policies for minerals developments. Shropshire County Council and the Borough of Telford and Wrekin use the Minerals Local Plan when they are considering planning applications for minerals developments.
In Shropshire, the Minerals Local Plan forms part of the Development Plan for the area of covered by the County of Shropshire and the Borough of Telford and Wrekin.
The plan balances the need for minerals and protecting the environment.
