Shropshire Council's planning service
Shropshire Council is now the Planning Authority for the whole county. This means that the planning services previously provided by the former borough and district councils before April 2009 have merged into a new single service.
Please follow the link on this page to access the weekly list of planning applications.
Shropshire's new planning service will be divided between the following teams:
- Development Management who will assess and make decisions on planning applications. View this section to find out about:- the planning system, pre-application advice, do I need permission, submitting an application, planning application process, current applications, what happens following a decision and planning compliance.
- Planning Policy Service who will prepare the policies used in the determination of planning applications.
- Building Control who ensure all new buildings, extensions and alterations across Shropshire comply with Building Regulations.
- Local Land Charges who will look after the local land charge searches carried out when buying a new property.

Consultation - Interim Planning Guidance on Affordable Housing
A new draft document has been prepared to help increase the supply of affordable housing in Shropshire, particularly in rural areas. The Interim Planning Guidance on Affordable Housing (IPG) brings together existing Local Plan policies and more recent supplementary planning guidance from the five former Shropshire districts, to provide a consistent approach.

Consultation - Habitat Regulation Assessment
The Habitat Regulation Assessment (HRA) plays an important role in protecting important European habitats from inappropriate development. It is a legal requirement for council's to produce a HRA alongside the planning policy documents it prepares. A Screening Report has been prepared and is currently being consulted on.
