Planning appeals
Applicants can appeal against the decision by the County Council to refuse a planning application, or against conditions that the council has imposed on a planning permission. An appeal can also be made if the planning application is not decided within a set timescale. Only the applicant for consent or permission can make an appeal. There is no right of appeal for interested people or organisations (known as 'third parties') in England and Wales.

How do I appeal?
Your appeal needs to be made to the Planning Inspectorate. Most appeals are decided by a Planning Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State. You can also obtain a copy of the Planning Inspectorate's booklet entitled "Making your Planning Appeal" via the Inspectorate's website.

Online appeals
Planning appeals can now be made online using the Planning Casework Service which is managed by the Planning Inspectorate. The Planning Casework Service can be accessed via the Planning Portal's website.

How do I find out details of appeals dealt with by Shropshire County Council?
Information on appeals is published via the Online Planning Register. Currently Shropshire County Council is not dealing with any planning appeals.

In recent years Shropshire County Council has only dealt with one appeal. This was for an on-farm composting facility at Wootton Farm, Queens Head, near Oswestry (Application number MO2003/12798/OS).

The Online Planning Register will be updated with details of any new appeals.
