Downloadable planning application forms
Attached to this page are electronic versions of the application forms that you will need in order to submit an application for minerals or waste development to the county council, together with the accompanying guidance and checklists.
Prior discussions with planning officers
Before submitting any planning application it is recommended that you discuss the proposal with a member of the Planning Development control team, who can be contacted by following the contact link on this page. Such pre application discussions may highlight issues to which particular attention should be given in the application.
How to submit an application using the downloadable forms
The forms should be printed off, completed, then posted to the council. Information on the various fee categories can be found in the attachment on this page.
Guidance notes and validation checklists
Guidance notes for completing the various types of application are attached to this page. We have also included validation checklists confirming the information which must accompany a valid application and some additional information on the planning application process.
What happens once my application has been submitted?
Your application will be validated by a planning officer. We will aim normally to notify applicants within two working days of the validity of their application. Once the application has been validated, it will be registered and details placed on the council’s online planning register within five working days.
After registration the application will be advertised and consultations undertaken. Officers will then prepare a report which will be considered by the county council's planning committee when the committee determines the application. For simpler applications a decision may be made instead under delegated powers (i.e. without reporting the application to the full planning committee).
The two attachments on this page entitled ‘application determination timescales’ and ‘stages in the planning application process’ explain the process of submitting a planning application and the timescales involved in each stage. If your questions are not answered in these documents contact the Planning Development Control team who will do their best to answer your query.
How to appeal
If you seek consent or permission to carry out particular works and your application:
You will usually have a right to appeal against the planning decision or conditions. More detailed information on this process and can be found by following the link on this page.
