Community-led planning
The vision for Oswestry is found in the Core Strategy Policy CS3, and is as follows:
"Oswestry will provide a focus for major development and will act as the principal employment, commercial and administrative centre in the northwest of the county."
In order to achieve this vision a place plan has been prepared specifically for Oswestry and its surrounding hinterland. The place plan identifies the priorities for investment and infrastructure within the local area.
Evidence has been collected from a number of local sources in order to identify the local priorities for Oswestry and the surrounding hinterland. These include community responses made on the Shropshire Local Development Framework (LDF), comments made at local joint committees and at Community Toolkit events, and from parish and town plans.

Updating place plans
The place plans are 'live' documents, meaning that they will be updated annually, although in the meantime the council would like to hear any views people may have. This regular update will allow the place plans to reflect any changes to local priorities, for instance through the preparation of town and parish plans.
