The Open Space IPG (January 2012) was adopted by the Council on 11 January 2012. It replaces the Open Space, Sport and Recreation IPG (September 2010), which is now archived (see link on this page).
This new Open Space IPG reflects both changes introduced by the adoption of the Core Strategy (February 2011) and the introduction of the Community Infrastructure Levy in Shropshire from 1 January 2012.
It provides additional guidance on the provision of open space as part of new housing development, to assist in implementing the Shropshire Core Strategy. In particular, it addresses the questions of:
- How much open space should be provided on a new development
- The design of the open space
- Its long-term maintenance
The Shropshire Council Open Space Assessment (that meets the requirements of national guidance in Planning Policy Guidance (PPG) 17) can also be downloaded from the 'Online services and downloads' section below. This study is a key part of the evidence base for the Open Space IPG and the Shropshire Council LDF.
