Our commitment to you
Shropshire Registration Service is committed to providing high quality services and advice.
We are proud of what we are trying to achieve and recognise that we can always do better. To further improve our services, we would appreciate your feedback.
Changes and improvements
Through our consultations with our customers, staff and stakeholders we have been able to make or plan the following changes and improvements:
- We have brought together all of Shropshire's registers of birth, death and marriage and offer a full-time certificate production service.
- We have improved access to the service by introducing a single contact telephone number and making greater use of e-mail.
- We have improved accessibility to the service by extending and re-designating our opening hours.
- We have relocated most offices which the public considered to be of a poor standard, had problematic parking or poor IT connectivity.
- We have introduced telephone ordering and on-line ordering for certificates.
- We have relocated our call answering to Shropshire Council's Customer Service Centre to ensure that our customers can contact us easily.
- We have introduced new opening times for our Church Stretton, Market Drayton and Whitchurch out-stations based on information from stakeholders and staff.
- We have committed the service to providing staff for ceremonies at approved venues on bank holidays.
- We have introduced a nationality checking service for the benefit of Shropshire residents and others outside the county.
- We have purchased an appointment booking system which allows members of the public to book their own appointments on-line.
- We have introduced naming, reaffirmation of vows ceremonies and civil funerals for the people of Shropshire based on results of public consultation.
- We have improved choice in the marriage ceremony by offering the opportunity to personalise where possible.
- Our marriage and civil partnership couples have expressed support for the provision of rehearsals, we have therefore, introduced them at all ceremony rooms.
