Registration of Religious buildings for Marriages

You can register a building by:

• Printing and completing two copies of the download form (form-78.pdf) attached to this page and posting it to us.
• Telephoning 0345 678 9016 to arrange an appointment at the nearest appropriate registration service point. Please see the link on this page for details of your nearest registration service point.

This process allows you to register a religious building for the purpose of performing marriage ceremonies.

It costs £120.00 and this payment must be attached to the completion of a prescribed form, Form 78, attached to this page below.

The form must to be filled in and completed in duplicate - photocopies are not acceptable. Unfortunately we cannot offer an on-line application form as we require your signature.

Your completed form and cheque made payable to Shropshire Council must be returned to:

The fee is to cover the costs of the advertising in the London Gazette and in a local newspaper.

After receiving your application and payment we will acknowledge the payment made for this registration process. The Superintendent Registrar will contact you following the advertisement and consultation process with further information. For further useful information on the process, please see the attached guidance note.

Shropshire Council will use the data you provide for the sole purpose of this application. Your personal details will be retained for a maximum of three years and will not be passed to other parties or used for any other purposes.
