Each Schools for Health theme contributes to at least one of the Every Child Matters five outcomes;
* be healthy * stay safe * enjoy and achieve * make a positive contribution * achieve economic wellbeing *

The outcomes contributed to and the impact when a school meets the theme criteria are described here:

Personal Social and Health Education (PSHE): addressing relationship and sex education, drug education (medicines, alcohol, tobacco, volatile substance misuse) and child protection

  • Provides pupils with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to make informed decisions about their lives.

Healthy Eating
* be healthy *

  • pupils have the confidence, skills and understanding to make healthy food choices
  • healthy and nutritious food and drink are available across the school day

PE and School Sport (Physical Activity)
* be healthy * enjoy and achieve *

  • pupils are provided with a range of opportunities to be physically active
  • they understand how physical activity can help them be healthier, and improve and be part of their everyday life

Emotional Health and Wellbeing (including anti-bullying and discrimination)
* be healthy * stay safe * enjoy and achieve * make a positive contribution * achieve economic wellbeing *

  • Promoting positive emotional health and wellbeing to help pupils understand and express their feelings, build their confidence and emotional resilience, and therefore their capacity to learn.
