Co-ordinated secondary school admission arrangements

All Year 6 applicants living within the Shropshire county boundary (that is, where council tax payments are made to a district council within Shropshire) are required to complete a Shropshire application form for their preferred secondary school whether those schools are in Shropshire or not. If you do not complete an application form your child may not be allocated a school place.

  • If you live in Shropshire and your child attends a primary school in Shropshire you will receive a letter, application form and "Parents' Guide" booklet from your child's primary school in September 2008.
  • If you live in Shropshire but your child attends a primary school outside of Shropshire you will receive a letter, application form and "Parents' Guide" booklet in the post, if you do not receive this before 19 September 2008 please contact the Admissions Team.
  • If you live in Shropshire and your child attends a private school, please contact the Admissions Team as soon as possible.
  • If you do not live in Shropshire, please contact your local authority as soon as possible.

If you apply for a school in another authority we shall forward your application details to the appropriate authority.

If you live in another English authority and wish to apply to a Shropshire Local Authority school (LA), you must include it on the application form from your home LA (that is, where your council tax payments are made to). They should then provide us with your application details which we will include in our admissions process.

If you live in Powys, Wrexham or Denbighshire, and wish to apply to a Shropshire LA school, both your home LA or Shropshire forms will be acceptable.

Please note Telford and Wrekin Borough Council is a separate authority to Shropshire.
