Shropshire secondary schools and colleges

Secondary school catering provides your meals on site, prepared freshly every day. We offer a wide range of choices from the traditional main course and pudding to deli bars and themed food bars. All our menus follow the 'School Food Trust' guidelines. Communication with you, our customer, has ensured that Shropshire secondary schools have seen increased sales with more teachers and students enjoying our service.
For further information on the secondary school meals service, including the current meal prices, please see the publications on this page.
Cashless System
Eight of our schools operate a cashless system where students each have a personal plastic card, that holds the details of their school meals account which can be topped up weekly, monthly or termly by cash or cheque. The account is secure and private.
We can accept payment to this account by:
- A cheque made payable to Shropshire County Council from parent or guardian - these are put in the cheque box. (One cheque can cover more than one child if required. Parents/guardians should make a note of the amounts for each child on the reverse of the cheque, along with the name and tutor group).
- Cash top up using the revaluation machines placed near the dining room.
To use the card:
- Present the card at the till point.
- The cashier will see a photograph of the pupil on the screen and the amount of money available to spend.
- The cost of the meal will be deducted from the account and the card given back to the pupil. To see how much money is left in the account, pupils should use the re-valuation machine where they can top up with cash if needed.
The cashless system: speeds up service, saves pupils from having to carry cash and enables those who take free meals to remain anonymous.
