Oakmeadow sees a steady rise in meal numbers
Meal numbers have risen consistently after two Bayston Hill primary schools, Oaklands and Longmeadow, amalgamated at the beginning of September. The first week that the new school opened its doors, an average of 70 children were taking meals on a daily basis, however since then, meals have risen to 120 per day by October half term.
Compliments have been flying in from visitors and staff at the school and much of the increase is attributed to the dynamics of the new kitchen team who have adapted brilliantly to their new routines and equipment. Great support from Headteacher Huw Roberts has helped the service grow and we hope this improvement will go from strength to strength over the remainder of the school year.
Primary and Secondary schools achieve top hygiene results
National hygiene results released for October show primary and secondary schools continuing to achieve top scores for food hygiene, safety and general cleanliness of school kitchens. Primary schools gaining 4 and 5 stars include; Worthen, Belvidere, St Lawrence's, Church Stretton and St Mary's, Bucknall.
Thomas Adam's secondary school in Wem and our non education catering sites, the Column Restaurant and the QC Coffee Shop at Shirehall, were also awarded 5 stars.
Shire Services staff work really hard to achieve these results and make a massive contribution to the strength of Shropshire's catering service.
