Free school meals are a statutory benefit. It is the duty of Shropshire Council's Learning and Skills Business Support to provide a meal for those pupils who are eligible for free school meals and who attend a Shropshire Local Authority school.
Many Shropshire schools operate a cashless card system. This means that pupils receiving free school meals will remain completely anonymous.
Schools with sixth forms, and some colleges, also offer free meals to students who receive a benefit in their own right, up to the age of 19 years.
If your son or daughter attends a college within the Shropshire Local Authority area, or if you attend a college and claim benefit in your own right, please contact the college direct.
