The whole school approach

sfh logo

The whole school approach to self review is recognised nationally as good practice in recent DCSF strategies, the new Ofsted framework and the Every Child Matters, Change for Children, Outcome Framework.

A good or ‘healthy school’ school:

  • consults with and listens to the views of staff, governors, pupils, parents and others in the local community when reviewing policy and practice
  • can show that change takes these views into account
  • evaluates the impact of changes in policy and practice

Schools for Health accredits local schools that take a whole school approach to their self review of the four themes

  • personal social and health education (PSHE)
  • emotional health and wellbeing
  • healthy eating and
  • PE and school sport (including physical activity).

Select the appropriate link in the further information section to view successful schools in each subject area to date.

Shropshire 'Healthy Schools' have reached the national standard for all four themes, and have the national status - a ‘Healthy School’. Select the link 'Shropshire Healthy Schools' to view successful schools.
