Shropshire Council has announced that Wates Construction is the preferred bidder for the transformation of Oakmeadow Primary School in Bayston Hill.
Oakmeadow Primary and Nursery School is due to be remodelled and refurbished following the amalgamation of Longmeadow CE Primary and Nursery School and Oakland Primary School in September 2009.
As part of this process Shropshire Council is inviting parents and local residents to meet the contractors for the new school so that immediate plans and details of the project can be explained. The meeting will take place on Thursday 11 February at 6.00pm in the Junior Site school hall. Wates and Associated Architects will be on hand to answer questions and explain plans.
Councillor Cecilia Motley, Lead Member for Children and Young People’s Services said: “I hope that as many parents and residents as possible can attend the consultation meeting and ask any questions they may have. I look forward to seeing the project develop and working alongside the contractors to ensure a fantastic new learning environment for generations to come.”
Wates Construction was established in 1867 and is privately owned with the 4th Generation of the Wates Family. Wates were voted Major Contractor of the Year 2009 as a result of their work within communities.
The architects who will work alongside Wates are Associated Architects. They have been established since 1968 with 35 years experience in the schools sector although they also work in all other sectors. Associated Architects deliver high quality projects with 19 awards to date.
