In Shropshire all schools are now extended schools; sometimes known as schools providing access to extended services.

An extended school works as the hub of the community. In partnership with other agencies the school works to provide access to a wide range of high quality services and activities that help meet the needs of children, young people, families and the wider community.

The government expects that all schools offer access to a core offer of services that:

• encourage children and young people to achieve their full potential
• have a positive impact on children’s motivation, behaviour and engagement with learning
• offer a wider range of opportunities, raising aspirations for all

Exciting work is taking place to ensure that what is on offer in Shropshire continues to develop and improve.
