Ludlow Museum

head

There has been a museum in the town of Ludlow since 1833. Today's museum opened in 1995.

The museum has recently been renovated and reopened in October 2008. It has four galleries. These include:

  • An introduction to Ludlow and its wildlife.
  • Ludlow's history from its 20th century trade back to its beginnings.
  • The archaeology of the area including Bromfield and Caynham.
  • The John Norton geology gallery

The museum tells the story of the town of Ludlow and includes some of the important events and the people who have lived and worked here; from Bronze Age farmers, through to the present day.

Visitors can also discover how Sir Roderick Murchison, the famous Victorian geologist unravelled the story of Ludlow's rocks and made them internationally famous.

There are a number of hands on activities throughout the museum and a large print guide is available.

To find out a little more about each of the galleries, follow the links on this page.
