ShropshireLink

What is it?

ShropshireLink is an exciting and innovative solution to providing a public transport bus service in all rural parts of Shropshire on a minimum of two days each week. The service makes travelling around rural Shropshire easier and provides a better service to your nearest market town and other essential services.

Unlike a traditional bus service ShropshireLink is not restricted to a set route or timetable. Instead the bus is able to travel flexibly within an area to meet the demands of people who wish to travel to their nearest market town. Where appropriate, the bus has the ability to come direct to your door to make travel easier.

The county has been split into nine ShropshireLink zones. Each zone is made up of several smaller areas where ShropshireLink will operate on two selected days between Monday and Saturday.

If desired, ShropshireLink will also connect to higher frequency bus and rail services to allow for onward travel to a wider selection of destinations.

The service is provided by new, low floor, easily accessible vehicles. The vehicles have a capacity of 16 seats, much smaller than a normal bus, making them more suitable for driving on rural roads and more comfortable for the passenger.

The service is operated by Shropshire Council using fully trained dedicated drivers.

How do I use it?

Services must be pre-booked with the dedicated team at the council's Customer Service Centre.

Firstly find your area on the attached maps (you may also call the booking service who will find your area based on where you wish to start your journey).

Then answer three simple questions:

• Who wishes to travel.
• Where you want to travel from and where you want to go.
• When you want to go and when you want to come back

Finally, call the ShropshireLink booking service who will aim to meet your needs. Don’t forget to book your return journey at the same time.

Bookings must be made at least 24 hours before you wish to travel and a maximum of seven days in advance. All bookings and connections are subject to availability.

Lines open:

• Monday and Thursday - 8am until 8pm.
• Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday - 8am until 6pm.
• Saturday - 9am until 1pm.
