Adult Learners' Week 2008

Do something different - Try something new!

The Lifelong Learning group of the South Shropshire Partnership has secured funding to put on a range of taster sessions to allow people in the district opportunities to 'try something new' as part of the National Adult Learners' Week campaign, which runs from 17 to 23 May 2008.

Over 40 different activities will be on offer at locations across the District, from IT tasters to Welding for Women, Tai Chi to learning about developing your own website. All sessions are available free of charge to anyone over 16 unless otherwise stated

Lifelong Learning Week starts on Saturday 17 May with a range of activities at the Mayfair Centre in Church Stretton, which will include a food tasting workshop, Indian Head Massage and relaxation; meanwhile in Ludlow there will be a puppet making workshop at the Assembly Rooms, and a basic cycle maintenance course.

Full details of the activities are available from the District Council, and the Adult Learners' Week website (search on 'Shropshire') where all of the activities across the West Midlands are listed.

Leaflets promoting the activities are currently being distributed across the libraries, Broadplaces, and learning venues in South Shropshire.

Lisa Bedford, Regeneration Officer for the South Shropshire Partnership says: "This campaign is a great opportunity to have fun learning new skills without realising it!"
