Emergency closure for B4555

Press release - 12 June 2007

A section of the B4555 near Chelmarsh will be closed from 4pm today for four hours (Tuesday 12 June) to enable emergency repairs to the railway bridge.

The railway bridge was struck by a lorry last night and the closure is needed to assess the damage.

Whilst this road is closed traffic will be diverted along the B4363.

Richard Suggett, Shropshire County Council’s co-ordination manager for the South, said: “I would like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause but also emphasise that this road closure is needed so that engineers can assess the structure of the bridge.

“Due to the nature of the work this closure is regrettable, however unavoidable in this instance.”
