Chance for Ludlow residents to discuss speeding concerns

Speeding on rural roads will be the main item on the agenda at the next meeting of the Action: Ludlow and Ludlow Rural local joint committee on Wednesday 9 July. The meeting will be held at Richards Castle village hall starting at 7.00pm, and all local residents are invited to attend.

Residents will hear about Shropshire County Council’s speed management initiatives, including village speed limits and interactive speed warning signs. Also on the agenda will be reports on measures to protect the Broadgate Arch in Ludlow, and the potential for changes to the town’s bus routes.

The meeting will give people in the Ludlow area a chance to discuss these issues with their local county, district and parish councillors, and have their say on other matters of concern or interest.

Action: Ludlow and Ludlow Rural covers the parishes of Ashford Bowdler, Ashford Carbonell, Caynham, Ludford and Richards Castle, and the Ludlow Town Council area.

Peter Corston, Shropshire County Councillor for Ludlow, and chairman of the committee, said: “These meetings are proving to be a fantastic way for people in the Ludlow area to have their say about how the area could or should be improved, and what could be done about it. Our next meeting offers the chance to find out more about some of the biggest issues affecting the area at the moment, and I hope people will come along to find out more and to tell us what they think.”

This will be the sixth time that the committee has met since it was set up in May 2007, and the first time the meeting has been held at a rural venue rather than in the town.

Action: Ludlow and Ludlow Rural is one of eleven local committee pilots that are now meeting regularly across Shropshire. The committee is made up of local county, district, town and parish councillors.
