Carer's support surgeries at Louise House

Support and advice is on hand for local carers at Louise House, Meole Brace, Shrewsbury on Thursday 15 May from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

Run by the Community Council of Shropshire and supported by Shropshire County Council, the carer’s support surgeries will be operating monthly in the foyer at Louise House.

The surgeries will be run by a carer’s support worker who can give general advice, carry out an intitial carer's assessment, give support and information, make referrals for benefits advice and help with obtaining relevant services.

Councillor Barbara Craig, cabinet member for community services said: “Family carers in Shropshire have to be actively and effectively supported if they are going to continue with the level of care they provide. The carer’s support surgeries play a vital role by providing carers with information about local services and giving them regular updates on what is going on.”

Andrea Jones, carer’s support worker for the Community Council of Shropshire said, “One of our most important roles is to offer a listening ear. It is important that family carers are given time, up-to-date relevant information, and to hear what support could be available to them. We hope many carers out there will come and visit our surgeries. This will enable us to tell carers that they do not have to struggle alone with their caring responsibilities and that we are here to support them."

The next carer’s support surgeries will take place at Louise House on the Thursday 19 June and Thursday 17 July.
