Press release - 10 September 2007
Clee residents get chance to have their say
Residents of Clee Hill, Cleobury Mortimer, Burford, Hopton Wafers, Nash and surrounding parishes can once again have their say about issues important to them, at the annual “Let’s Talk’ meeting being run by their local councils on Tuesday 25 September at Clee Hill Village Hall, starting at 7.00pm. Entry is free and refreshments will be provided from 6.30pm.
People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to the meeting, at which local councillors from Shropshire County Council, South Shropshire District Council and local parish councils will listen to comments and concerns raised by local people and answer their questions.
The first part of the meeting will be given over to questions from young people, and then discussions will cover planning, highways, housing, transport and police. Local residents are invited to advise of any other issues they wish to raise by contacting Liz Nicholson on (01743) 254301 or by email to liz.nicholson@shropshire-cc.gov.uk.
Comments can be made during a question and answer session, and the issues raised at the meeting will then help to shape planning at each of the councils.
Adrian Coles MBE, Shropshire County Councillor for Clee, said: “The annual Let’s Talk meetings offer local people an unique opportunity to meet councillors from all of their local councils in the same room at the same time. They can come along and tell us in person what the important issues are for them and what they would like to be done.”
South Shropshire District Councillor Nigel Holmes said “Let’s Talk is a golden opportunity for local people to discuss and put forward their views and opinions on how they would like to see their communities develop with those people responsible for making things happen.”
George Williams, Chairman of Caynham Parish Council, said: ”This is a great opportunity for local people to ask the questions that are of the utmost importance to them and their communities, and to say what they would like their parish, district, or county council to do.”
The meeting will begin with a brief report on what has been done over the past 12 months in response to issues raised last year. Everyone attending will be given feedback afterwards, telling them what the councils have done as a result of the meeting.
This is one of a series of 27 “Let’s Talk” meetings being held across Shropshire before the end of October.
