Oswestry’s registration service office will be moving to new premises in the town later this year.

Currently based in the courts building on Holbache Road, the service is to move to the Oswestry Borough Council offices in Castle View.

The service hopes to be operating from its new office from 1 November 2008.

Mike Owen, Shropshire County Council’s Cabinet member for community wellbeing, said: “The new premises will provide customers with ground floor office accommodation and reception facilities. Over the years customers and staff have expressed concerns over the existing location and it is hoped that the new accommodation will allay these concerns.”

Oswestry residents will continue to be able to register births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships at the new office. Appointments can be made by calling the existing number - 0845 678 9016.

From 1 November civil wedding, civil partnerships, civil naming and reaffirmation of wedding vows ceremonies will take place in the Council Chamber at Castle View. Anyone who has a ceremony booked after 31 October will be contacted by the registration service over the next few weeks with further information.
