As part of celebrations for the National Year of Reading, Libraries across the county are launching a competition to find out what rhymes or songs you like singing.
Parents and carers of children under five are invited to pick up an entry form at their local library and decide on their favourite rhyme or song.
The top ten will be used to compile a nursery rhyme leaflet which will be used in rhyme times across the county in July.
Everyone nominating a rhyme will be entered into a prize draw. The prize will be a box set consisting of a Harry and his Bucketful of dinosaurs book, a bucket and some dinosaurs.
Early Years Librarian Nicola Dawson said, “Singing nursery rhymes is a great way for babies and young children to acquire language skills. They can be enjoyed by all members of the family and are great fun.”
Anyone needing to be reminded of rhymes and songs before they make their decision is invited to come along to one of the many Bookstart rhyme times which are held in libraries throughout the county. Details of these are available from your local library or on the Shropshire Libraries web pages at www.shropshire.gov.uk/library.nsf
Closing date for entries is Saturday 7 June.
For further details please contact: Nicola Dawson, Early Years Librarian, on 01743 255031.
