The county flag at Shirehall in Shrewsbury will fly at half-mast tomorrow (Tuesday 11 March) in tribute to former Shropshire County Councillor and Alderman Dr Wilfred Ormiston Attlee JP.

This will be to mark the funeral of Dr Attlee which will take place at St Mary’s Church, Whitton, Ludlow, tomorrow at 2.30pm.

Long-standing county councillor Major Adrian Coles MBE will represent Shropshire County Council at the funeral.

Dr Attlee was elected to Shropshire County Council in 1956 and represented the Teme division until 1972. He was a member of the Education Committee from 1956 to 1967, and a Justice of the Peace on the Ludlow bench from 1952.

Dr Attlee died on 29 February aged 90.
