Shropshire County Council’s Oswestry area children’s centre are currently holding weekly English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) groups. The group is for parents of young children for whom English is not their first language.
The group provides the opportunity for adults to learn and improve their English at their own pace with a crèche available alongside the group for children under five.
There are a range of professionals dropping in to offer advice on issues such as childcare, health and employment. The group runs in term time only by a qualified tutor from the local college.
Carol Tiddy, Acting Director for Children’s Services said: “The Oswestry Children’s Centre is offering a great opportunity for members of the community to improve their English in a safe learning environment. This is one of the many excellent initiatives provided by children’s centres which are available across the county.”
The group meets between 1pm and 3pm on Wednesday afternoons at the Hazel Tree Centre, Oswestry Infants School, Middleton Road, Oswestry.
