New crossing patrol for Morda school

Morda C of E Primary School in Oswestry has welcomed a new crossing patrol.

The crossing patrol, local resident Norman Martin, has been introduced by Shropshire County Council’s road safety team to help give pupils a clear and safe crossing point.

New warning signs and timed flashing warning lights have also been installed on the main road giving traffic from either direction advanced warning of pupils crossing.

Steve Chadwick Shropshire County Council’s senior road safety officer, said: “We are pleased that this new school crossing patrol has started, having a school crossing patrol encourages the pupils to cross in a safer place and also gives reassurance to other pedestrians and road users.

“It is also great to see that it is already proving popular with the school, pupils and their parents.”
