The fourth Tour of Britain cycle race, organised by London Transport and e-on, is set to visit South Shropshire next week (Wednesday 12 September).

This annual event will visit the county for the first time, as cyclists’ race from London to Glasgow in just seven days.

Due to health and safety reasons a number of roads will need to be closed on a rolling basis between 1pm and 1.30pm. These roads will include:

  • B4194 Button Oak – Kinlet.
  • B4555 Highley - Chelmarsh – Eardington.
  • Bridgnorth - Oldbury Road - Hollybush Road - Pound Street – Whitburn Street - North Gate.
  • B4373 Broseley Road – Iron bridge Road.
  • A442 Brockton crossroads, Sutton Maddock.
  • B4176 Rudge Heath.
  • A454 Shipley to Stafford.

The police will stop all traffic to allow the race through on these roads.

Ron Buzzacott, Shropshire County Council’s traffic manager, said: “We are pleased to host stage three of this important cycling event, however we would like to apologise in advance for any disruption this may cause.”
