The Chairman of Shropshire County Council, Councillor Brian Gillow, will host the council’s annual civic service this Sunday (18 November), at St Bartholomew’s Church in Tong.
The service will be led by The Archdeacon of Salop, The Venerable John Hall; and The Bishop of Shrewsbury, The Right Reverend Dr Alan Smith.
Councillor Gillow will be joined by fellow county councillors, the Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff; the chairmen or mayors of Shropshire’s district, borough and town and parish councils, and by the chairmen of neighbouring county councils.
Representatives of Shropshire organisations who work with the county council, including the police, fire service, health authority and Chamber of Commerce will also be at the service, along with officers from the armed forces and the headteachers of Albrighton’s two primary schools.
Brian Gillow said: “The civic service provides us with an opportunity to review, reflect upon and celebrate the services the council and our partners provide to the people of Shropshire, and allows us to reinforce our commitment to continuing to provide the best possible service in the year ahead.
“I look forward to welcoming guests and colleagues from such a large number and variety of organisations to this very special service.”
