Members of Shropshire County Council’s Road Safety section will be at various venues in the county during the summer holiday period. They will be promoting safety messages and supplying information on the new Summer Drink Drive/Drugs Campaign and child road safety, through displays, competitions and giveaways.
The road safety team will be visiting your area on:
Friday 8 August 2008, Salop Leisure Centre, Shrewsbury 10.30am – 2.30pm
Wednesday 13 August 2008, Tesco Stores Limited, Ludlow 10.30am –2.30pm
The road safety team shall also be at Burwarton Show on Thursday 7 August 2008 joining the Bridgnorth District Council/ Community Safety stand and Oswestry Show on Saturday 2 August 2008 at the Safer Roads Partnership stand.
John Everall, Shropshire County Council’s Cabinet member for environment and sustainability, said: “We are constantly striving to reduce road accidents and make people aware of the dangers involved in driving.
“We hope that people and especially young people will come along and find out more about road safety and the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
Caroline House, road safety officer said: “We look forward to these summer events, when we can promote these important messages and give advice.
"It is hoped families will visit our stand and there will be competitions for the children to enter. We shall also be displaying information on the new Summer Drink Drive/Drugs Campaign launched by the Safer Roads Partnership. The campaign highlights the potential consequences of drink or drug driving to young motorists. There are ‘giveaways’ too, for those who visit, including magazines for new young drivers.”
