People with an interest in cycling are being invited to attend the spring meeting of the Shropshire Cycle Forum.
The forum, held every three months by Shropshire County Council, will take place on Wednesday 12 March at 7pm at the Shirehall in Shrewsbury.
On the agenda will be a presentation from members of the Ludlow Cycling Support Group. They will be talking about their work to encourage more people to cycle in the town, including their new ‘manifesto for cycling’ and the response they have received so far from the local community.
County Council officers will be asking for ideas for a new Shropshire Cycling Strategy and discussing an opportunity to bid for Shrewsbury to become a ‘Cycling Town’.
The Forum will also hear the latest on the Connect2 project in Shrewsbury. This five year project, to develop better walking and cycling routes in the heart of the town, is one of 79 schemes around the country being co-ordinated by Sustrans. It was awarded Big Lottery funding at the end of 2007, following a national public vote.
Alison Kennedy, Shropshire County Council’s transport planner, said: “We encourage everybody to come along and have their say about cycling in Shropshire. There are also lots of exciting new projects to hear about.”
