Improvements to Harlescott Park & Ride

Shropshire County Council is applying the finishing touches to a scheme created to improve security and facilities at the Harlescott Park & Ride site in Shrewsbury.

Final improvements at the site, to take place early next month, will include the installation of a new bus shelter and the re-establishment of the real time information service.

Work to build the new bus shelter will start on Monday 9 June 2008 and is expected to take around three days to complete, including work to remove the existing shelter.

During this work, the service will continue to operate as normal and people will be able to use a temporary bus stop on the site which will be clearly signed.

John Everall, Shropshire County Council’s Cabinet member for environment and sustainability, said: “This new shelter and the reinstatement of real time travel information will complete the many improvements we have made to the site, providing people with a better and more secure service.

“We’d like to apologise in advance for any disruption these works may cause and we hope to install the shelter in the shortest possible time.”

Recent improvements at the site have included planting, landscaping and improved security. Security barriers have been installed on the site entrance and exit and additional fencing has also been installed around the site.
