Shropshire County Council in top 20 councils to work for
Shropshire County Council has been named as one of the best councils to work for in the country.
The “best councils to work for” list, published today by The Times, ranks Shropshire County Council as the top county council, and 16th highest overall.
Malcolm Pate, Leader of the Council, said, “This is a major achievement for the staff, who provide excellent services on a daily basis. We’re very proud that, as well as being the best performing county council in the country, we are also seen as one of the best councils to work for.”
This is the first year that the list has been produced, and the county council’s ranking was arrived at by an external organisation - Best Companies, on behalf of The Times - comparing the results of a recent staff survey with the other councils who took part.
Carolyn Downs, Chief Executive, said “I’m delighted that Shropshire County Council has been acknowledged as one of the best councils to work for. We have a very committed and highly motivated workforce.”
She added that “One of our core values is caring for staff. In getting this right, we ensure that they are equipped in the best possible way to deliver and improve the excellent services we provide.”
