‘Courtroom’ – a road safety drama

Starting on Monday 25 February, for one week, ten primary schools in Shropshire will play host to the Tiny Giants Theatre Company so that pupils can learn how road traffic accidents can be prevented.

The interactive performance ‘Courtroom’ uses pupils as jury members and people of the court to explore the events surrounding a road traffic accident, trying to establish how this kind of accident can be prevented in the future.

This 50-minute play covers important subjects such as passenger, pedestrian and cycling safety.

Funded by Shropshire County Council’s road safety team, these visits have been organised as part of a developing programme of bringing road safety education into schools and colleges.

John Everall, Shropshire County Council’s Cabinet member for environment and sustainability, said: “We are delighted to bring a professional drama group into the county to perform this lively production and we hope that this will promote road safety in a memorable, fun way. During the week’s tour around 1700 pupils will see the performance.”
