Shropshire County Council is backing a new evening weekend bus service in Market Drayton.

RML Travel, operator of the 64 Market Drayton to Hanley evening bus service, has extended its journeys on Fridays and Saturdays to provide a service around the town.

The new service starts from the bus station at 8.08pm and 10.08pm on both days, serving Dalelands, Sherwood Crescent, Prospect Road and Rowan Road.

In addition a new journey, the N64, has been added starting from Hanley at 2.25am on Sunday morning to Market Drayton and will continue around the town loop.

Jonathan Hayes, Shropshire County Council’s principal transport planner, said: “This is the first late night service to be operated in the county and will provide passengers with an opportunity to stay out longer in the evenings.

“We welcome this service and it is great to see a local operator meeting the needs of Shropshire’s residents without subsidy from the County Council’.
