Shropshire County Council is to carry out essential work to resurface the roads at Frankwell Quay and Frankwell Roundabout on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 November. The work is being carried out to improve safety on these busy roads.
The resurfacing work at Frankwell Quay will take place on Saturday 17 November from 7pm until 11pm, and on Sunday 18 November from 8am until approximately 10am.
During these times, traffic will not be able to turn left from Frankwell Quay onto the Welsh Bridge and traffic will be diverted to Frankwell Roundabout.
Work at the roundabout will take place on Sunday 18 November from 8am until approximately 8pm. In order for these works to be carried out safely, Copthorne Road will need to be closed at its junction with the roundabout. During this closure, traffic will be diverted along Shelton Road and The Mount.
To keep disruption to a minimum and to help keep traffic flowing, stop and go signs will be used instead of traffic lights.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained throughout the closure.
Gary Parton, Shropshire County Council’s coordination manager for the central division, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption these works may cause. We will be putting in place a number of measures to keep this to an absolute minimum.”
A roadworks embargo which came into effect this week means that between Monday 12 November and Monday 7 January roadworks will only be carried out for emergency or safety reasons.
