New headteachers at Shropshire schools

Nine new headteachers are to take up their positions in Shropshire schools at the start of next term (Monday 7 January 2008)

The new headteachers, listed by area and school, are:

Oswestry area

  • Ifton Heath Primary School, Oswestry - Mrs Nicola Bradley, who replaces Mr David Evans, who is retiring
  • West Felton CE (Controlled) Primary School, Oswestry - Mrs Nicola Maddocks replaces Mr Alan Parkhurst, who was seconded from Weston Lullingfields CE (Controlled) Primary School to work as acting headteacher until 31 December 2007.

Shrewsbury area

  • Meole Brace CE Infant School - Mrs Jenny Davies who has transferred from Lydbury North Primary School, and replaces Ms Sharon Jones, who has transferred to Shropshire County Council’s Schools Advisory Service.
  • St Mary’s Catholic Primary School - Mrs Frances Abela, who moves to Shropshire.
  • Crowmoor Primary School - Mr Alan Parkhurst, who was previously head at West Felton Primary School and replaces Mr Richard Russell, who retires.
  • Sheriffhales Primary School - Ms Sally Lill, who moves to Shropshire.
  • St Mary’s CE (Controlled) Primary School, Albrighton - Mr John Rowe, who was previously head at Hope CE Primary School and replaces Mrs Hazel Hemsley, who retires.
  • Hope CE Primary School - Mr Nick Collins, who is transferring from Stokesay Primary School. He will be acting head until 6 April 2008.
  • Woodfield Infant School - Mrs Geraldine Dunkerley, who transfers from Welshampton CE Primary School, and replaces Mrs Susan Young, who retires.

Carol Tiddy, Acting Director for Children and Young People’s Services with Shropshire County Council, said: “I congratulate all of our new headteachers on their appointments and wish them every success in their new positions. I would also like to pay tribute to all of the outgoing headteachers, thank them for their hard work and wish them every success for the future.”
