Shropshire primary schoolpupils will be eating breakfast for lunch on Friday 25 January, when a special menu is served in primary schools across the county to mark National Farmhouse Breakfast Week 2008.
The menu aims to emphasise the importance of eating a balanced breakfast each day as part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
It offers a choice of grilled bacon, grilled tomatoes, hand-made tomato sausages or vegetarian sausages, scrambled egg, mushroom saute, baked beans and diced potatoes.
Children will also be able to enjoy either pancakes with fruit sauce and orange segments, or chocolate and forest fruit muffins.
Bill Campbell, Operations Manager with Shropshire County Council’s school meals service, said: “We’re delighted to once again support Farmhouse Breakfast Week by offering this special menu, which we hope will help demonstrate to children the importance of eating breakfast every day.”
The ninth annual Farmhouse Breakfast Week takes place from 20-26 January, and promises to be the nation’s largest breakfast celebration ever, with over 1,600 events expected to take place across the country.
