Action: Whitchurch & Prees - your chance to get involved

Residents of Whitchurch and Prees have another chance to get involved in decisions affecting their community when Action: Whitchurch & Prees - their new local forum - meets at Prees Village Hall on Tuesday 11 September, starting at 7.00pm.

Issues to be discussed include a review of current litter arrangements; young people’s issues, including feedback from the North Shropshire Youth Summit; and HGVs in Prees. There will also be a Community Speedwatch update, and a progress report from the local residents panel.

It is the second meeting of the group, which has a committee of county, borough, town and parish councillors drawn from the local area. The forum has a budget which it can use to take action on issues it believes will benefit the local community.

Tom Biggins, Shropshire County Councillor for Whitchurch, and Gerald Dakin, Shropshire County Councillor for Prees, said: “This new forum offers a great opportunity for the people of Whitchurch and Prees to have a say about the issues that matter to them, but also to make a very real contribution towards addressing these issues and to improving the local area.

“We hope as many local people as possible will come along to the next meeting and help us to help the local community.”

Action: Whitchurch & Prees is one of five local meeting pilots being held in Shropshire over the next year. The pilot initiative will be reviewed after the cycle of four meetings, with a view to rolling out the scheme across the county.
